Alternative sex is a set of practices that may be defined as “irregular” sexual practices, that is, differ from vaginal or anal intercourse or oral sex. The variety of alternative sex practices stands comparable to the creativeness of those in bed. There are certain practices that became common sense when we talk about sex, although they are still considered alternative sex practices such as bondage, S&M, or sexual role playing.
Not everyone would enjoy all the alternative sex practices available, as it refers to deeply personal choices, so everything has to be consensual. As the meaning of “alternative” here refers to “unconventional”, some of the practices that alternative sex include may sound too outlandish or even out of order to some. However, we have to keep in mind that being consensual and not harming any of the partners involved, any sexual practice is acceptable and healthy.
Probably the most well-known practice of alternative sex is BDSM (which means Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism). BDSM refers to negotiation and transfer of power within the sex play. It’s very important to understand that such practices are completely consensual, and any abusive or nonconsensual practice is unhealthy to the person inflicted and maybe punishable to the one who practices. BDSM does not refer to beatings.
Polyamory is also an alternative sex practice that becomes
more and more common in our society. It means having simultaneous multiple sexual
relationships. Differently from cheating or promiscuity, those relationships
are consensual among all the involved, although the practice of polyamory is
still looked with disdain by most. In fact, the only difference between monogamy
and polyamory is that monogamous people engage into sexual relationships serially,
while polyamorous people do it in parallel.
It’s important to point that the definition of “alternative” is as unsettled as the definition of “normal” for each people, so the concept of alternative sex may vary from person to person.
Almost every big city around the world has its sex clubs. Sex clubs are part of the nightlife since the earliest years of industrial revolution and the development of the first metropolitan places. Even though, prostitution is an illegal practice in most of the countries, many sex clubs operate without restrictions everywhere. Often such sex clubs come masked under the name of dance clubs, massage clubs or something like this. Many sex clubs owners are involved with other illegal activities. They may have contact with influent people in the city or town hall, such as politicians, who could make things easier for them.
According to surveys, most sex clubs are meant to be good as far as prostitution goes, and will continue to exist, given that the sexual need is part of the human instinct.
